All ranks, from an OR-1 to an OF-9, often require a working knowledge of English in order to operate adequately. Military English is the study and practice of the English language in the context of the military. It explores the use of spoken and written English by the armed forces (Army, Navy, and Air Force) in a variety of different situations.
